Medical Frontiers, 1770’s: Dr. Daniel Wood of Florida NY, Continental Army Surgeon

You won’t believe what medical historian Brian Altonen has found, join us this Saturday! 132 Kings Highway, Warwick. Masks required for the safety of all.

On Saturday, January 22 at 2:30 PM at the Warwick Town Senior Center, the Friends of Hathorn historical society will host medical historian Brian Altonen speaking about the medical practice of Dr. Daniel Wood of Florida, NY during the Revolutionary War.  Wood was a physician with Hathorn’s militia and the Continental Army, serving at Valley Forge and other key locations.  His medical notebook of “recipes” survives, and Altonen will use examples from the manuscript to show how it reveals medical theory and methods of the mid to late 18th century.  All are welcome to this free presentation, which follows the Friends annual business meeting at 2PM.  The Senior Center is located at the rear of the Town Hall parking lot, 132 Kings Highway, Warwick.  Masks will be required for the safety of all.  In case of heavy snow, delay information about the event will be posted at hathornhouse.wordpress.com.  For more information email hathornhouse.wordpress.com.
